Do you remember milko chews? Those milky and vanillary lollies would just about glue your teeth together while you attempted to gnaw your way through their sticky sweetness.

Well, if you were a fan of the beloved milko chew and thought that they were lost to you due to dietary changes, then I bring you happy news!  I have reinvented the milko chew in the form of a gummy!  A delicious vanillary, creamy, melt-in-your mouth milko gummy! 
Now I'm not going to beat around the bush, there's no hiding the fact that these are most definitely not rip-your-teeth-out, gnaw 'til your jaw aches kind of chewy...in fact they arent chewy, or sticky at all. But honestly?  The pleasingly light, bounciness of these magical delights is an improvement on the old favourite! Not to mention the fact that they are wonderfully allergy friendly, refined sugar free, positively scrumptious, and bursting with nostalgic flavours from sepia tinted childhood memories.

 

Recipe
150g coconut milk (full fat)
50g maple syrup
1 tsp pure vanilla essence
1 tbsp agar agar powder

Method
Pop all your ingredients into a small saucepan.
Place over a medium-high heat and whisk briskly until your gummy mixture is the consistency of house paint.
Pour into silicon moulds or a container with a flat base.
Finally place into the fridge to set for approximately 2 hours.
Once your Milko Gummies are well set remove them from their moulds or simply slice into squares with a sharp knife and enjoy.
These will keep nicely in the fridge for up to a week.
