Easy Orange Gummies (Paleo & Vegan)

Easy Orange Gummies (Paleo & Vegan)

GLUTEN FREE, GRAIN FREE, DAIRY FREE, SOY FREE, EGG FREE, NUT FREE, REFINED SUGAR FREE, VEGAN, PALEO, AIP FRIENDLY

Twice a year our church holds a little fair to raise funds for various charities.  It is always a great day out for children and there are always a few things that are bound make the little ones eyes sparkle with excitement.  Be it a mobile animal farm, a jaffa-smasher, hay-bale rides, face painting, or a jumping castle... But without a doubt there will always be a cake and lolly stall that attracts children by the dozens.
Not wanting my little one to miss out I made a batch of dinosaur gummies and crossed my fingers that they would suffice when she saw the lolly stall!  To make her lolly-bag experience as authentic as possible I popped these Easy Orange Gummies into a paper bag.  You should have seen her little face light up when I presented her with her very own “lolly-bag”, oh how she loved it!

These are the easiest gummies I have ever made... And I have made a lot!  They are suitable for most diets, the only sugar they contain comes from freshly squeezed orange juice, AND unlike most healthy gummies (that are made with beef gelatin) these fun gummies are in fact Vegan.

I hope your little loved ones enjoy these fun gummies as much as my toddler.

Recipe
The juice of one large orange (measuring to approximately 1 cup)
2 tbsp agar-agar powder

Method
First pour your orange juice into a small saucepan and pop the agar-agar powder into the saucepan on top of your orange juice.
Whisk to combine.
Place your saucepan over a medium heat and whisk for 2-3 minutes, or until your gummy mixture has thickened to the consistency of a thick (but pourable) milkshake.**
Now pour your gummy mixture into your silicone moulds (or a flat based container) and place into the fridge to set for approximately 2 hours.
When your gummies are set simply pop them out of your silicone moulds or cut unto fun shapes with a sharp knife.
Enjoy!
These gummies should keep in the fridge (in an air-tight container) for up to a week.

**
If your mixture has thickened too much and won’t pour, don’t fret, you can simply spoon the mixture into your moulds.  It will be a bit messy but it will still work!
