Hemp and Sesame Crackers

Hemp and Sesame Crackers

GLUTEN FREE, GRAIN FREE, DAIRY FREE, SOY FREE, EGG FREE, PALEO

People often ask me how I use hemp seeds.  I usually end up saying something fairly vague and probably unhelpful, along the lines of “like any other seed! I pop them in cakes, breads, crackers…”.  I’ve come to learn that most people like to follow a recipe, so this recipe is for all you folks curious about hemp seeds.

Please, don’t fret, hemp seeds are indeed perfectly safe for you to eat and won’t peace you out maaaannn… if that’s what you’re thinking.
These are just crispy, crunchy crackers with all the goodness and yumminess of hemp and sesame!

Did I mention they are so good for you?   Sesame is a fantastic source of manganese, calcium, zinc and more.  Hemp seeds have an excellent omega 3-omega 6 ratio and are brimming with amino acids, vitamins and minerals that aid digestion and sleep.

Have I convinced you to try these yet?

If nothing else, these crackers are crispy, crunchy and perfect to have with dips!  Not to mention you don’t even need to get out the food processor!  Less dishes is always a good thing!

Recipe
½ cup blanched almond flour
¼ cup hemp seeds

2 tbsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp flax seeds

1 garlic clove, crushed
pinch each of salt, cracked black pepper, and paprika
1 ½ tbsp olive oil
½ tbsp water

Method
Preheat the oven to 160C.
Place all your dry ingredients and crushed garlic in a bowl and stir to combine.
Now mix in the olive oil until evenly distributed and finally stir through the water.
You should now have a lovely, malleable dough that holds together well.
Form the dough into a ball and place onto a piece of baking paper on your bench.  Place another piece of baking paper over the top and, using a rolling pin, roll out your dough to about 3mm thick.
Using a sharp knife lightly score the dough into squares before sliding into a large baking tray.
Bake for 10 minutes or until lightly browned and crunchy.
Leave to cool for at least 10 minutes before snapping along the score lines.
Enjoy!
